What is your favorite club ride?
I don't really have a favorite route but what I really enjoy is all the different routes available daily, weekly, and monthly. I enjoy seeing new places around Salem especially the beautiful hills, the farmland, the flowers, and the cute towns in the surrounding areas. So much color compared to summer in the CA Central Valley!
What is your favorite out-of-town ride?
My favorite out-of-town rides include Banks/Vernonia, McKenzie Pass from the west, and Portland
Do you prefer going uphill or downhill?
I enjoy the challenge of an uphill, love the rewards of the downhill, but too much flat is mentally exhausting for me-I need good conversation and/or music plus lots to see if there is too much flat road ahead!
What's the best part about being in the club?
The best part about being in SBC for me has been to meet other cyclists! I value their knowledge of the area, their experience on the bike, and support while riding to help with mechanical problems, bonking, or too much flat road. I've enjoyed the local group rides, out-of-town trips, and making great friends.
Why do you love riding your bike?
I like the freedom I experience while riding my bike. I can explore easier and see more than in a car, and cover more ground than walking(which I also love}. I can also challenge myself with climbing, distance, or speed, whatever I want on that given day. I always feel better after a bike ride!
