Off The Back August 2026

Hello everyone, and happy summer!

It has been a busy summer, and we are just getting started. Along with the club’s regular weekly and weekend rides, we have had event rides and volunteer opportunities to keep everyone engaged. As we look ahead to August, there are many ways to be part of the club. If you are a regular visitor to the website, you may have noticed it has gotten a bit of a facelift, and content is being added as I continue learning how the site works.

This month brings a couple of personal milestones for me: I am planning to ride my longest ride ever, the 85-mile Covered Bridge route, and attempt the climb up Mount Constitution on our San Juan Islands Event. Because I am not a small person, that climb has been on my mind every week. I have been fitting in short, steep climbs when I can, adding an extra climbing gear to my bike, and practicing how to quiet my brain when it tells my body to stop. I am sharing these goals because they remind me of something that applies to all of us: when you set your mind to something, you can do it, even if you have to will it into existence.

We just wrapped up our third year of Iron man volunteering, and I could not be more proud of the role our club played in an event that brings so many people together. A big shout-out to Juan Lopez for bringing it all together as Team Captain. Well done, Juan!

Ride safe, ride smart. I look forward to seeing you out on a ride.
