As the Monster Cookie rest stop coordinator, I can tell you that all three rest stops were hopping. Serving over 700 excited smiling riders was such a pleasure. Even with the lines, riders were patient and grateful to the volunteers.
Rest stop one, the Willamette pie company, was loaded with people and staffed by The hard-working and experienced Scott's cycling. The pie is always the highlight there, but this year we also offered hard boiled eggs in addition to our usual fare. And we didn't run out of coffee!
Rest stop two at Mount Angel. Middle School was also very busy. This year we offered lunch for free and had a choice of turkey or veggie wraps. These were put together by the McNary high School culinary team and riders seemed to enjoy them. The coffee was also very plentiful this year at lunch.
Finally, rest stop 3 at Holy Trinity School had a surprise lift for tired riders with the addition of chocolate espresso beans to get them through those last miles.
All in all the rest stops worked out well with a sea of smiling, appreciative riders coming through and making more Monster Cookie memories.
